“Start, Stop, Assess” Navigating Change…
Are you keeping up with all the new changes that are unfolding in your life? Have you become a seasoned pro at adapting when plans go left without notice, when you thought the path on the right was the one to travel on? Well, if you’re anything like me, when new twists and turns that once felt familiar are no longer, and you find yourself in new territory, then this dear heart is where the wisdom of Start, Stop, and Assess comes into play and can be extremely helpful.
Start, represents the present and any new plans you desire to put into play; the Stop, has either happened organically or by force to get your attention as well you may have chosen it, the Assessing part in all of this would be to take a time out from all efforts especially those that are no longer bearing fruit, it feels like you’re in slow motion not gaining any traction. I am not a big fan of cheap platitudes that are said and shared all too often without thought, yet this one, the letting go and let it flow, is the perfect compliment to the assessing part.
I forget now how I came across the following statement, yet it does pack a wisdom punch in a few words, let go or be dragged oy vey now that will either reach you as a much needed life line and breathe of fresh air when plans go astray or act as some quick thinking day to day life coaching logic that will eventually assist in getting you to that place we call the holy grail of surrender. No matter how many times one has to begin again, it is important to remember to stop and suss out the lessons before moving forward, thus avoiding any further repeats of ending up in the same old same old.
Will the glass of inspiration remain half full during those times of Stop, Start, and new Assessing? That will depend on ones outlook regardless of the changes that are unfolding, we love change and post the good news when it flows and we are at the top of our game, the hard part comes when those changes are not so classy and are not flowing with ease, that’s when its time to reach into your bag of tricks of life lessons and in fact be encouraged from previous or current experiences reminding you that the glass remains half full and is now rising to the top over flowing.
When all the assessing is complete, and you were able to navigate these new changes or dreams that seemed to stop midway through completion, amongst the starts and stops. This would be a good time to push the start button again and move with swiftness and assurance. The passage that kept coming to me in the middle of my own recent start and stop was a simple yet easy to digest in its wisdom. It spoke of remembering what it is like to be the open, willing, and innocent student, as in having a beginner’s mind when navigating the new and unexpected. Now would be a good a time as any to push that start button again and go forward full steam ahead with renewed confidence.
