Are You Contributing To Workplace Joy? C.V. Updates
When updating one’s CV or professional work profile, you may never think to add to your bio beyond your career achievements and successes in bullet points that your work, professionalism, and energy “contributes to workplace joy.” I just love that line; it does say it all, doesn’t it? Who does not desire to work with others, in spaces and for companies that either have and promote workplace joy, or consider it a joy to be there?
I am not talking about any day-to-day fairytales, as in yes, the stresses can be real depending on which industry you are a part of, the ones who make it look so seamless in guest services, hospitality and luxury retail which has been my well-known industry turf and proud contributor to workplace joy for many years, all can now read and see that bold statement on a up dated professional LinkedIn profile.
That yes when you hire my professional services and brand flavor, this is one of my cornerstone philosophys that was in play during a recent short contract with a well known luxury house, if the only complaint I received was being too friendly and during the time I was there, my workplace joy contributed to no customer complaints while clients enjoyed being in the store, then I can live with that and now hopefully continue to carry that energy and simple yet old school work ethic forward to the next assignment.
If you are in fact out in today’s job market, you are either looking or maybe even trying to find new ways to make something fit or last a few more months or days longer. Remember this, life is short and there really is no point in being anywhere if you do not enjoy it, and this dear heart goes for all parts of life, work, relationships, where you shop, and where you choose to live. Choice is a powerful module we can at times forget to live by, or that regardless of the ups and downs of the economy, global politics, we do have a choice.
The best life wisdom shared by the wise Master or practicing Buddhist will be as follows, life is simple, but we as humans can make it hard. Everything will come around again, times change, company CEO change much faster than they use to, our job as hard-working folks out in the workday field is to find that JOY, hold it, celebrate it and learn to laugh more while not taking it all so personally especially during yet another full moon when no one seems to be driving the bus, I shall continue to join you the best I can on any given day to share in and pass along that workplace joy in all situations.
